I'm Getting Too Old For This...

On Wednesday we celebrated Mikal Moore's birthday. No, not that one...although this one has been on tv recently. You might remember him from the Salt Lake auditions of So You Think You Can Dance:

I knew the night was off to a fantastic start when my phone accidentally called Ann while Mandi and I were belting our little hearts out....and then Ann called me out on it. Oops. We went up dancing in Salt Lake and I had a blasty blast except for I got no sleep and now it is two days later and I am still tuckered out.

Everybody Cut Loose...

In honor of my mother's birthday, I am posting two of my favorite pictures of my parents. Prepare yourselves...

How did a mountain man like my father snag a babe like my mom?

She is totally going to ground me for posting this one. The hair, the make-up...there's never been a better portrait. My mom hates this picture, but my dad and I used to dig it out of the garage all the time and hang it up in the house so she finally stopped fighting it and got it matted and framed...and hung it in the laundry room.

Happy Birthday Mom!

Phil Fillmore

Last night I got to attend a little Nordstrom reunion. Jessica is with child and has decided to say peace out to the world of zapatos (I use the espanol because Jessica was Miss Latina Utah). So this was a combination farewell/baby shower sort of a get together. And where do mall employees go for such an event? Changs, of course.
Also, while I'm on the topic of offspring, I just wanted to give a little shout out to Ann for providing the greatest baby gifts ever. She makes all sorts of little treasures for tots which you can see at her Etsy shop here, as well as in boutiques like Flower Basket in Provo and Babinski's Baby in Salt Lake. It is seriously the most darling stuff ever, little onsies and headbands and booties that almost make me not scared of babies. I got these little gems for Jessica's little girl, who I call Phil anyways because I think Phil Fillmore is the greatest name ever.

Redneck Getaway

Tis the season for weddings-- Big Country (aka Mike) got hitched this weekend. I paid tribute to the occasion by dusting off my trusty old cowboy boots. What was originally a fashion statement came in handy when Chrissy threw the bouquet...Look out world, apparently I'm next! Now if only there were a groom...I do, after all, have the perfect gown, found by me and Lindsay on Center Street after dinner one day (LC: bet you forgot about this little gem of a picture...)

Pretty as a Peacock

My desk officially has flare. There is still a lot more that I want to do, but I thought I'd post pictures of my progress.

Close up of my peacock bookends-- one of the many benefits of my love of treasure hunting at Ross.

...The other side of my desk. If you're wondering about that lovely scene on the right...

Thank you Asian Gifts. This little gem of a picture lights up from behind, creating the illusion of rippling water. AND there is the sound of running water, which I turn off so that I don't feel like I have to run to the bathroom every two seconds. It was supposed to be kitchy and funny, but I must admit that I really do find it soothing.

This candy bowl makes sure that I have lots of friends. My desk is a little tucked away, and I have no shame in luring people over to me for conversation. So far it's worked like a dream and I'm the most popular gal in the office.

If they were Sean Jean sweatpants it would be no problem, but because they were Costco brand, it's the worst thing I could do

Once I was at the movies in Salt Lake with some friends. One friend (we'll call him Michael) was saying that he was hungry and needed to grab something to eat from the concession stand. I made a quip about him grabbing a diet Coke and a pickle and was met with a blank stare and certainly no laughter. We then got into a lengthy debate regarding whether or not movie theaters sell pickles.

NOW, I have never even entertained the idea of purchasing a large dill pickle from the movie theater, but I swear they are everywhere. At the last movie I went to I discussed this with the concessions manager, who confirmed that pickles can be found across the nation and are actually quite good sellers.

Via comment, please leave your support for either side of this great dispute...am I crazy, or are pickles usually sold at theaters???
