Die Hard

I was absolutely at WalMart with a few friends at midnight tonight picking up the new B Spears album (just wait for the pics- I will post them asap!). How is homegirl supposed to afford a new stylist if no one buys the album???

I'm getting bullied into this holiday...

Peer pressure at its finest. First our pumpkin party (where we all enjoyed chatting and dancing so much so much that we actually forgot to carve the pumpkins)...
...and then a costume party.
Dare I say that I might actually be enjoying the festivities? I don't even know who I am anymore...

For Lindsay

Despite my terrible fear of all things spooky, I decided to go to a haunted house this last weekend. As much as I hate being scared, I hate being left out of a good time even more :) Anyway, the haunted forest proved to be not so much scary as hilarious- much to my relief.
We didn't really take the scary people seriously....
But we DID take our dancing seriously...what else are you supposed to do in a dark room with smoke and lasers???
Arlene and I had a brief encounter with a masked chainsaw madman. The photo is cropped so as to hide our skinned knees.
At the end of the experience....don't we look terrified?

Podophobia

So I swear I'm not going to use this blog as a forum to whine and complain about every little thing, but I can't help myself today....

I have been going to BYU for the past five (yikes, I know. I'm taking my time) years. However, the past year I have been blessed with this little thing called a handicapped parking pass that makes getting to and from school a breeze-- I pull up to the closest spot and prance right in to either one of the adjacent buildings that I have class in. The only time I ever deviate from said route is when I need to pretend to be studious and venture to the library. Anyway. The downside (or upside, really. Depending on how you look at it) is that there is an entire section of campus that I never see. Well, until I had to mosey on down to the south side to take a test today. I came to a big open grassy field where fellow students were lounged about studying and soaking up the last of the sunshine before the weather turns bitterly cold. Some were solo, some were in small groups, reading, eating lunch...and kicking off their shoes.

Here's the thing. I work on my feet in heels all day, every day. I know that when your dogs are barking, nothing feels so good as to kick off those confining zapatos. But as I curiously inspected all of my shoeless peers, I noticed not a single pair of stilettos among the crowd. In fact, every last one of them was wearing some sort of a sandal, be they rainbows of havianas or chacos or whatever. Ummm...don't you buy those ugly shoes because they're comfortable? I see no reason to subject the rest of us to your crusty feet if you're walking around campus in comfort shoes. Sick.

Oh, and then as I enter the testing center, I am greeted by a copy of the BYU dress and grooming standards, the last sentence of which reads: "Shoes should be worn in all public campus areas." I'm not complaining, I'm just suggesting that we start enforcing this. I, for one, am way more offended by unpedicured feet than a beard or a tube top...

Date Night

As is becoming the standard routine, we all met for Friday night dinner. This week's venue: Outback. Dinner topics included work, holiday craft projects, and shopping at a shameful discount retailer which shall remain unnamed to protect those who were involved. The below photo shows how badly we needed to get to said store- five of us piled in my tiny little rollerskate of a car like it was high school again. Good times on a Friday night!

to Halloween or not to Halloween?

Let me just start out by saying that I don't particularly enjoy the Halloween holiday. I have an extremely low threshold for scariness, and therefore a holiday which celebrates all things spooky isn't exactly my idea of a good time.

This year may mark my Halloween change of heart. I came home from work the other day to find that my dear roommate had our house decked out in pumpkins and skeletons galore. And much to my surprise, I actually loved it. So today I decided to jump on the bandwagon, which luckily gave me the perfect excuse to buy this:

Now I just have to bake a new batch of cupcakes every other day to keep it looking cute!
