My mom read my blog recently and told me that I made it look like all I did in DC was the Segway tour. Well, I did other things. Like go to the most magical place on earth,
Baked and Wired.

I have always loved bakeries, but this place...ahem...takes the cake. I went three (yes, three) times over the weekend, because when you're on vacation you can't gain weight. Please note the cupcakes entitled "pretty bitchin," which I purchased for that reason alone. Also highly recommended: birthday cake, strawberry shortcake, and red velvet.
So when my one year work anniversary rolled around, I decided to take my inspiration from b&w and get a little craftier in the kitchen. (And yes, am that self-congratulatory that I celebrated a one year work anniversary. I walked around to each person's desk and said "Happy one year of getting to work with me!"). The result: red velvet cupcakes with vanilla bean cream cheese frosting. The cake part still needs some fine-tuning, but that frosting is to die for (I even bought real vanilla beans, which made me feel
très fancy). I'm drooling on my keyboard.

So to respond to my mother: yes, I did more than ride Segways. I also ate cupcakes.
