Now that the exhibit is open, I need to ask for a little help. Part of my involvement at the museum has included the creation of an interactive, online component. I am so excited about this project and the opportunity to make the museum more accessible to the public. You can participate in just 4 easy steps:
1. Create a portrait. The fun thing about this exhibit is that it's contemporary portraiture, so it doesn't have to be a traditional head shot and it doesn't have to be a self portrait-- it can be anything that represents the concept identity. Make a sculpture of your mother's hands. Take a picture of a child. Paint yourself. Visit the Mirror, Mirror exhibition for inspiration. We are looking for works from everyone-- children, students, professionals, amateurs, you name it. The more diverse the entries, the more fun this project will be!
2. Submit your work. The only requirement is that it has to be submitted digitally, but it doesn't have to be a "digital" work...so take a photo of your sculpture, scan your painting, etc. Email your final work to byusnap@gmail.com anytime between now and midnight on December 9th, 2009. (Official rules found here)
3. Vote! On December 9-January 19, go back to the MOA website to vote on your favorite works. Voting is completely anonymous and the works will not include the artist's name, so don't be shy!
4. The Results Show. On January 21, there will be a panel discussion at the Museum (featuring yours truly--yikes!) and the winners will be displayed.
Thanks!

I may or may not have taken photos of folks in the past. Are there any nepotism clauses?
Please remind us about your panel discussion when it happens. I'd love to see it.
