Contemporary museum of art. I love a museum that's a work of art on the outside and the inside. (And I love any place that decides to write "Hell, Yes!" in giant, permanent, light-up, rainbow lettering).
Visual over-stimulation=Mood Fabrics. Could have spent DAYS in the garment district. Can't wait to get crafty with some of my finds.
And how does the solo traveler spend her time at the end of a trip when she still wants to see so much but has feet that are threatening to disconnect themselves from her body if she takes another step? Why, she makes her way to the famed Circle Line boat tours (I pretended I was hanging out with George and Michelle on the set of One Fine Day) and takes the 2 hour tour: daylight down the Hudson, sunset at the Statue of Liberty, dusk up the East River, and then nighttime as we made our way back. Highly recommended.
In the words of my dear friend Nicole, "There it is, the big city."
(No camera? No problem-- there's an app for that. And fake polaroids do an excellent job of disguising poor photo quality.)

Hurray! I'm so glad you enjoyed yourself! I thought of you the other weekend and wondered why I hadn't heard from you, and decided it only meant you must be having a fab time! So glad everything worked out.

Awesome. I am kind of dying to make it to NYC, but we'll see when that actually happens. Besides, your self-guided vacation seems to kind of be the ticket. :)
